The Honors ProgramThe Middle School Honors Program is designed to meet the academic needs of the gifted and high achieving student. The curriculum for the Honors Program is challenging and rigorous in all four content areas.
Acceptance into the Middle School Honors Program is different from the Elementary Gifted Program. Students who are evaluated for acceptance to the Honors Program can qualify for up to 4 Honors classes or as few a 1 Honors class.
Typically those students who do not qualify for all four honors classes could be recommended to one of the following concentration/focus areas based on academic strengths:
Students accepted into the Eighth Grade Honors Program will have the opportunity to earn high school credit in Algebra 1, English Composition 9 and Earth Science.
To earn high school credit a student must achieve a minimum final course grade of a C- and pass both semester exams with a minimum score of 70%.

Honors Program Extracurricular Involvement Requirement
Students who participate in the Honors Program in grades 6, 7 and 8 are required to complete/participate in two extracurricular activities per year. Students have many choices to complete this requirement. For more details regarding this requirement please click on the link below.
