Honors Math
Students who are enrolled in the Honors Math courses will be learning materials that is accelerated a grade beyond their grade level peers.
6th Grade
The concepts students will be learning are similar to a traditional Pre-Algebra class.
- Understand derived quantities
- Solve problems involving rates, ratios, and proportions
- Recognize irrational numbers
- Compute with rational numbers
- Understand and apply directly proportional relationships and relate to linear relationships
- Understand and represent linear functions
- Understand and solve problems about inversely proportional relationships
- Apply basic properties of real numbers in algebraic contexts
- Combine algebraic expressions and solve equations
- Draw and construct geometric objects
- Understand the concept of similar polygons, and solve related problems
- Represent and interpret data
- Compute statistics about data sets
7th Grade
The focus of the content expectations is Algebra in nature.

Students will work individually, in pairs, or in groups to solve mathematical problems.
8th Grade - Algebra 1
The class is a one-year accelerated course for the self motivated learner. The Michigan Merit Curriculum for Algebra 1 will reinforce the basic language rules of Algebra including:
- Write and understand basic algebraic expressions
- Solve and Graph:
- Linear equations and inequalities
- Quadratic equations and inequalities
- Logarithmic and exponential equations
- Explore polynomials
- Examine the relationship between logarithmic and exponential functions
- Examine various representations of functions including tables, graphs, and equations
- Use real and complex numbers
- Examine relationships between multiple sets of data
